1 Definition

An ASIN stickering chargeback occurs when a product does not have a valid, scannable ASIN barcode or the barcode is linked to an incorrect, inactive ASIN. This chargeback, also known as a barcode labeling chargeback, is applied when a product unit cannot be properly received and associated with the correct ASIN in Amazon's system. [1]

✕ What triggers it
  • The unit has no scannable barcode [1]
  • The barcode is linked to an incorrect or inactive ASIN [1]
  • The barcode is not readable without opening the package [1]
  • More than one barcode is visible and others are not covered [1]
  • The identifier links to multiple ASINs and no ASIN sticker was applied [2]
✓ How to prevent it
  • Give every sellable unit a scannable barcode linked to the correct, active ASIN [1]
  • Ensure the barcode is readable without opening the package [1]
  • Display only one barcode — cover all others [1]
  • Comply with GS1 standards; ANSI grade B or higher; print must contrast with background [2]
  • If one identifier maps to multiple ASINs, apply an ASIN sticker; set-created products need a barcode distinct from their component "eaches" [2]
