The Ships in Product Packaging (SIPP) program — previously known as Frustration-Free Packaging (FFP) or Ships in Own Container (SIOC) — lets selling partners ship customer orders in their own custom-brand packaging without any Amazon-added material. [1] SIPP-eligible products that exceed the size or weight thresholds and do not belong to an excluded category must be certified as SIPP, or they will incur a chargeback for each unit shipped to Amazon.[1]
Two certification tiers[1]: Tier 1 – Frustration-Free Packaging (FFP) · Tier 2 – Ships in Own Container (SIOC)
2 What triggers it & how to prevent it Final composition for this type
An eligible, uncertified ASIN incurs the chargeback on every unit shipped. Eligibility thresholds differ by region [1][2]:
Packaging dimensions greater than
Weight greater than
18 × 14 × 8 in
20 lb
How the dimension threshold is applied (any one side is enough):
longest side > 18 in, shortest side > 8 in, or median side > 14 in [1]
⚠️ The trigger is the ASIN's certification status, not whether the package was actually opened, overboxed, or repackaged. Even if Amazon never overboxes the unit, an eligible uncertified ASIN is charged for every unit shipped.
✓ How to prevent it
Certification path — choose one of three testing options[1][2]
Self-testing — non-fragile products. Complete the Amazon vendor drop test report template for rigid or flexible packaging.
products under 50 lb
Third-party testing — all products. Have packaging tested by an ISTA-certified third-party lab (ISTA website or the APASS network) and provide an ISTA 6-Amazon.com test report using the approved templates.
Lab testing — fragile products in rigid packaging. Submit to the Amazon Packaging Lab for ISTA 6A-Amazon.com testing.
Complete the Amazon vendor enrollment template for each ASIN and applicable child vendor code
Submit forms and certification via Contact us → Amazon Packaging Certification → Enroll and certify ASINs
Labelling requirements when shipping (still required after certification)[1][2]
Single items need both a scannable carton label (SSCC, AMZNCC, 2D-BPS, or GTIN-14 encoded in GS1-128 / ITF-14) and a scannable item label (UPC, EAN, GTIN-12, or ASIN)
For a master pack carton: the outermost packaging needs a scannable carton label, and each SIPP item inside needs proper item labelling on its outermost packaging
If sold as a set, the outermost packaging also needs a set label — e.g. "Sold as set" or "Do not remove this outer packaging"
Product Prep and Packaging dashboard → search by product name / ASIN / EAN / SKU / UPC / GTIN → select Chargeback eligible items to see whether a product is chargeback-eligible, the amount, and the units charged
Same dashboard → select Decertified items to see decert date and reason, and use Export Data for the re-enrollment deadline

4 Official exemptions
(a) Upper-weight exclusion
Products that weigh 50 lb or more (actual weight) are excluded from this chargeback. [1]
ASINs with any hazmat classifications and transportation regulations (for example, ASINs that include lithium-ion batteries)
ASINs in Prime Pantry, Amazon Fresh, or Media
ASINs below the minimum certification dimensions:
longest side < 6 in, shortest side < 0.375 in, or median side < 4 in
Primary ASINs that have existed for at least 24 months and have shipped fewer units to Amazon in the trailing 12 months than:
100 units
ASINs packaged for shipment to Amazon in a way that nests or interlocks the individual selling units to maximize freight cube efficiency (for example, trash cans nested together)
(c) Post-certification and decertification grace period[1][2]
Internal note — not shown in product该豁免 NA / EU 一致 —— 页面不并列标注,两个 tab 各自照常显示。
After an ASIN is certified for a vendor code, chargebacks for that ASIN under that vendor code stop from the certification date
If the ASIN is decertified, a 60-day grace period applies during which the chargeback is waived
Re-certify within the grace period with a new ISTA-6 SIPP test report; if the ASIN is not re-certified in time, chargebacks resume at the end of the grace period
Decertification dates and reasons: Vendor Central Reports → Product Prep and Packaging
5 Documents required for dispute
⚠️ The evidence for this unit is unlike every other unit — Amazon asks for case IDs, not photos.
The case ID from Amazon Selling Partner Support confirming a re-measurement of your ASIN was completed and that the product does not currently fall within the dimensional or weight thresholds.<br>Note: shipping weight = greater of unit weight or dimensional weight (L×W×H ÷ divisor).
ASIN certification status dispute
The case ID confirming successful Amazon packaging certification for the ASIN under the vendor code for which it was certified.<br>Note: disputes are evaluated against the certification window — from the certification start date (per the Selling Partner Support email) through the decertification date, if any.
